You Are A Winner

I'm a tough cookie. Not so much in terms of dealing with other people; generally I'm pretty soft-spoken. I'm a tough cookie, believe it or not, on myself. I tend to overly critique myself mentally, whether in regards to my outfits, my weight, my words... Yes, yes, funny and trivial, typical first-world problems, I understand. Yet, talking to fellow girlfriends, I find I'm not the only tough cookie in the box.

As women, we are programmed to please.  We love relationships, thriving on helping others feel comfortable and cared for. Yet, we sometimes forget to love and care for ourselves! I've found, oddly enough, the more I love myself (be it through going for a long walk with my iPod, having a solo coffee date, writing in a journal, getting a massage) the easier it is to love my family and friends. Metaphorically speaking, my cup must be full in order to pour into the cups of others.

Taking time for ourselves may sound slightly egotistical, but even Jesus Christ, the son of God, set aside time for Himself. "Jesus would often slip away to the wilderness and pray alone" (Luke 5:16). Taking some solo time allows for a clear heart and mind, leading to less self-depreciation and belittlement.

Don't undervalue yourself, ladies. Instead, uplift yourselves, knowing there is no one else like you. Set aside daily alone time to fill your cup. Before you know it, you'll be overflowing into everyone elses. They'll be dying to know your secret.

"Love your neighbor as you love yourself," Jesus advised. How can one do that if you don't in fact love yourself? Essentially impossible.

Get a fresh mani-pedi, go for a long stroll, and replace negative, judgemental thoughts with thoughts of self-respect, self-regard, and self-admiration. Why? You're worth it, darling.

You are amazing.

You are brave.

You are kind.

You are beautiful.

You are adored.

You are smart.

You are generous.

You are incredible.

You are breathtaking.

You are someone's hero.

You are gorgeous.

You are a great friend.

You are one cool cat.

You shine like the sun.

You are a winner.

You are in a class of your own.

You are one in a billion.

You are a dream come true.

You are the wind beneath my wings.

You really are something.

You are grace.

You are important.

You are not mistaken.

You are on fire.

You're a God send.

You are never alone.

You are loved.

You are a star.

You are very special.

You are free to dream.

You are happy.

You are perfect.

You have no flaws.

You are awesome.

You are unique.

You are sexy.

You are perfect just as you are.

You are a miracle.
