As a young girl, my dream was to become a princess. Watching The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty sparked fantasies of someday wearing a flowing gown and sparkling tiara with handsome Prince Charming at my side. I'd clutch his waist as we'd gallop on a big white horse toward lavish picnics overlooking our kingdom. He'd rule the people with a mentality of Robinhood, spreading justice and equality among the masses. Prince Charming would draw his sword on evil forest villains, protecting his precious beauty at all costs.

Throughout middle school, high school, and early into college, I continued to crave a prince. I wanted someone to look into my eyes and tell me everything would be alright. I itched for a warrior to protect me from the insecurities of the awkward teenage years and solidify my worth in the world. I hungered for a relationship so badly I opened my heart to all the boys portraying any remote interest. I was a serial dater, crushing like Cupid.

The chain-dating didn't lead to a prince charming. Instead, it led to heartache, grief, and bitterness. Why hadn't I found the man I fantasized? Would I ever find a prince? Did a man like him exist? According to the Word, there's at least one who does. Jesus Christ is the king of kings and lord of lords. He loves us so much he desires to be our best friend, boyfriend, husband, and father all in one!

Instead of daydreaming about make-believe Disney-prototypes of princes, I've found peace in the greatest prince of all. The "angel of the Lord will stand in the road with his sword drawn protecting us." (Numbers 22:31) He has an "everlasting dominion that will not pass away and a kingdom that will never be destroyed." (Daniel 7:13-14) Jesus will "reign forever" (Luke 1:31) with the "armies of heaven behind him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen." (Revelation 19)

Look no further my dear, your prince awaits.
