"Happy girls are the prettiest. "

"Paris is always a good idea."

"If I get married, I want to be very married."

- Marilyn Monroe

As I walked along the Lake Michigan pier this morning and was listening to the song below, it got me to thinking...

How does one embody "classic" charm and beauty? How can a woman from the 21st century become the Marilyn Monroe a modern-day Clark Gable is looking for?

Well, outwardly, timeless wardrobe pieces are never a bad idea. A few of my faves include:

Tan trenchcoat (try Banana Republic or Gap!)

Black leather gloves (Macy's, K Mart)

Black 'Bans (RayBan.com, Claire's)

Strapless one-piece (Victorias Secret, Target)

Patterned scarf (Burberry, Kohl's)

Music-wise, Ariana Grande and the Biebs are great, but I encourage trying out some chic, classic music on occasion!

Frank Sinatra - Come Fly With Me

Louis Armstrong - La Vie En Rose

Dean Martin - Mambo Italiano

Michael Buble - Everything

Inward elegance is what we, as women, should ultimately strive for. Inward elegance will never fade, even when our youth does.

Be a woman of truth, someone who sticks to her word. Be a woman of confidence, standing by the quote "there's great power because you know you have it." Be a God-fearing woman, knowing your ultimate path in life is destined and determined through your faith in Jesus Christ, the ultimate romancer. Be a woman of love, pouring your God-given gifts into those around you, knowing you were born with specific talents others may lack.

Don't be afraid to turn someone down (in the kindest way possible) because you know your worth and are not afraid of singleness. Be a woman of grace, poise, elegance, charm, and dignity. Be a woman of true beauty, which is found in the heart, and ignore those who don't help you shine.

There's nothing wrong with being the one who got away. Nothing good can happen after midnight - think Cinderella - keep 'em wanting more.

Ignore your stumbles, everyone has them, and keep your chin up high. Look up at the stars, not down at your feet.

You are a woman of worth, of purity, of modern luxury, and sophistication. Find a role model, be it Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Jackie Kennedy, Michelle Obama... dress with elegance (when you can) ... and remember - you're so classic, babe.
