As I was driving to work today, a semi truck pulled in front of me on the road with a big sign on the back: follow the leader. Hm. Of course, we have all played this game in kindergarden. But what if I told you we never stopped playing? I'm following lots of leaders, as are you. No man is an island, and we all have an innate tendency to follow those we surround ourselves with. As a nation, we collectively follow our friends, our family, Hollywood stars, the writers of Cosmo, the Kardashians, the Housewives, etcetera.

I once heard we are the average of the top five people we hang out with. What we don't realize is those five people don't have to be people we physically know. It can include reality television stars we binge watch on Hulu, people we hear on the radio, and beyond.

Those which we surround ourselves with inherently become our leaders. It's beyond our control, we inevitably pick up habits.

If you attend church, you are probably reminded to dust off your BIble from time to time to read God's word. Although the majority of twenty-somethings don't take this advice, it has a deeper significance than initially realized. The Bible is God's love letter to His people. The more often we read it, even if it's just a chapter each night before we doze off, the more His truth pours into our hearts.

Jesus is the best leader to follow. While most "leaders" in our society are clawing to the top, Jesus took a humble approach by climbing down the ladder of self-proclaimed success, only to be raised to the tip-top by God. Making him one of your 'top 5' will astronomically raise your average.

I'm sure you all know Bethany. She is the inspiration for the movie Soul Surfer, having lost her arm from a shark attack. Bethany is a Christian and wrote a beautiful memoir (and a devotional) about her faith. And her man... I mean... need I say more?

♥ carrie underwood

Carrie is a Christian; complete with crosses and Bible verses lining the walls of her home. She continually writes songs about her faith, keeping God at #1.

♥ ivanka trump

To be honest, I don't know much about Ivanka's faith other than her being Presbyterian. But - her style, poise, and intelligence is fab. Some may not agree with her father, but Ivanka is very well spoken and respected.

Notice how each woman has a good man at her side. Dare I say - strong, professional men are looking for confident, Godly, capable women. Don't settle for someone who doesn't help you shine! ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼
