Ghosts of Boyfriends Past

I had a dream last night one of my exes got engaged. Then I checked Facebook and a different ex actually DID get engaged. Whoa.
Do you ever feel like the world is flying past you and you're just stationary? ☃
That's how Joseph felt when he was a slave and prisoner for 13 years. His life was going nowhere. He was sold into slavery, feeling confused and worried. He worked as a servant under an Egyptian royal named Potiphar for a few years, later being thrown into jail.
That is, until he interpretted a dream of Pharaoh's and was raised up as Egypt's second in command. He woke up one morning in a dirty jail cell and went to bed that night in a king-sized palace. He was given a HUGE job with thousands of lives in his hands.
Joseph was a prisoner for 3 major reasons:
- God wanted Joseph humble. If Joseph had been given the position right away, he would have been prideful.
- Joseph needed to learn how to lead. Without the training in Potiphars house and in jail, he wouldn't have been equipped.
- God wanted Joseph to rely on Him. With no hope for those 13 years, there was no one to lean on but God.

God is prepping you for something awesome. Don't focus on yesterday, instead - focus on today. Instead of worrying if my ex-boyfriends are moving on, (which, many of them ARE and that's GOOD) I should be worried about living the life God has given me right now.
Like Joseph, God preps His sons and daughters for the job He's assigned to them. Take Jesus for example - He worked as a carpenter for 30 years before starting His ministry. What kind of "carpentry" does God have you working in?
You may not be exactly where you thought. I figured, at 23, I'd be settled with a man I could marry. I figured things would be a little different. But - living as a single woman and getting involved in my small community is exactly where I know God wants me.

Focus on being the best you can be today. Joseph was "successful in all he did" in Potaphars house and the jail. Because of that, God knew he could handle the job as second in command in Egypt.
God may be preparing you for something larger than you think. Are you being diligent today so you can succeed tomorrow?
Look at the nations and watch-- and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.
