All the Single Ladies, Put Yo Hands up!

I have been single for exactly three years. Which leads me to think: why can't I settle for someone? Truthfully, I have gone on a handful of dates with some incredible boys... so why haven't I taken the next step? What's stopping me?
Simple - I'm a hopeless romantic. I wholeheartedly believe there is one person out there for me. I believe there is someone out there with the same beliefs and passions. I'm trusting that God will take care of things start to finish; that I shouldn't have to break my convictions, no matter how gorgeous or talented or successful a boy may be.
I believe there is nothing wrong with being single. In fact, it's a gift. Singleness is a time to soak up some freedom. It's time to ask ourselves: Who is the woman I want to be? And it's time to become that woman.
If we settle for someone God never intended us to be with, we are missing out on receiving all the blessings God planned for us long ago.
Imagine: finding someone who loves you for YOU. Not the fake, first date you, but the real real real you. What if there's someone who loves Jesus just like you? What if there's someone who loves travel just like you? What if there's someone who wants to adopt just like you? What if there's someone who likes pina coladas and getting caught in the rain just like you?
My fellow princesses: instead of worrying about finding someone, find yourself. Find your faith, find your purpose, and find your passions. The right man will notice those things and will pursue you start to finish.
In the meantime, here's some random and fun ways to enjoy (and soak up) singleness in all its glory:
- Go to Rome and paint the sunset
- Buy rollerblades and hit the pier
- Buy a cute pink Bible and set a date with God every morning at 7 AM
- Get a mani pedi with sparkly pink polish
- Sign up for a marathon 8 months from now (like me!)
- Babysit cute little kiddies
- Buy cycle shoes and take spin classes
- Start a book study with Godly women
- JOIN A CHRISTIAN CHURCH & PRAY TO JESUS ON THE REG
- Stop listening to music that poisons your thoughts (still learning this myself)
- Write a list of non-negotiables in a man
- Go crazy at a thrift store
- Laugh all the time
- Start a blog (call me, I'll help you)
- Take a girl you want to be friends with out for lunch
- Make Jesus your Main Squeeze
- Encourage other girls who are struggling
- Buy someone froyo

Singleness is the perfect season for whimsical, magical days filled with treasures and adventures. With God by your side, you have nothing to fear. Make the world your own, honey. Go get 'em.
